Specifically a tablet.

Touching a cube in the blue zone works just fine. The issue is when the cube is inside a number that got rolled. The system doesn't know you want the cube instead of the number. If you long press that pops the card out. Then long pressing on the cube does highlight the cube but also the whole card.

Is this an issue or do I just need to learn the specific technique?

I have found touching and holding, particularly where the cube will be once the card is magnified, works best for me.
Sometimes you’re then able to touch the cube if it hasn’t activated.

It’s definitely not a perfect solution, but a single touch almost never works.
