How to plan tournaments where players in different time zones don't get unfairly booted

I know- another issue that exists for us all but BGA has not yet resolved: Unfair over-time-limit booting in time-based tournaments. But I have a different reason for asking- someone said they solved this and I want to learn how.

I saw (but now can't find) another tournament organizer say they found a way to create games where people who are really trying, are actively playing, but the time zone difference leads to the clock running out and everyone agrees: NO BOOTING over this type of over-time-limit, since it is unfair.

Right now, frequently some impatient / inexperienced player boots them for no good reason. Sometimes the booting happens at the very end, just to not lose a game.

I don't want to play that way anymore and want to learn how you did it? How did you find a way to create tournaments where everyone agrees not to be THAT player who ruins the fun for everyone?

The tournament engine will auto-end the game when 30 days (or the round time limit) has passed, even if nobody is kicked for running out of time.

You options are:

1. Give the most generous time control (30 days) and hope it's enough time. Try to pick games where people can play simultaneously or that don't last for too many turns. For example, a worker placement game would be awful for a turn-based tournament.

2. Create a private tournament, kick out people who abuse the "running out of time when game almost over" feature.

3. Don't use the tournament engine and just organize individual games yourself.
