Why did I lose stealth going upstairs?

I lost one stealth moving from C2 on floor 1 to C2 on floor 2. Why?

When you went upstairs, you entered a foyer, and the guard was in one of the adjacent room (above), so you lost a stealth due to the foyer effect.
