No option to switch to turn based

Playing a real time game and it got too late so folks wanted to stop and switch to turn based. From everything I've read, it seems like there should be an option to switch to turn based under the hamburger menu but there isn't one.

Can you tell the game name? For some games, turn based is disabled

But even games that can't be started as turn based can be switched to turn based. At least this was true for Dobble / Spot it (where it doesn't makes sense at all).

Yeah, it's is Beyond the Sun. The funny thing is I swear I was able to do this before with the same game...

Is this normally where you would see the option to switch to turn based?

Yes, that's where that option can be found. But if course, it isn't there if the game is in turn based, already.
Here you had a no time limit game. That means it's probably turn based, already

No one is getting emails when it is their turn. That's what I am trying to enable. I assumed that was the main difference between real-time and turn based.

You could say there are three time modes: real-time, turn based and no time limit. The latter are not the same, because in turn based you also have a (slow) time limit.
In a game with no time limit (that is, training mode or restricted to friends) you can't become "late". This is probably the technical reason why you don't get emails. But on the other hand, if you invite someone who is offline to a no time limit game, you are asked if you want to send them an email. So emailing in no time limit games is not handled consistently, and this might be considererd as a bug.
