Why do bugs remain unaddressed for years?

I am wondering how reliable the bug reporting system is. There are a lot of different issues I see in the bug reports but they all seem to be pending for ages. Sometimes they are not even small bugs or issues but things that are really detrimental to the game.
Is it that game developers are very busy with other things or have they abandoned the maintenance of the games in question. Maybe this forum can draw the attention to some of the developers to please fix the long list of bugs or at least address them so we know they are acknowledged. Otherwise, I feel no hope in reporting bugs.

It depends of the game, some are still maintained, some aren't. Which game are you talking about?

All games are developed by different volunteer developers. In some games those developers are very active and bugs are dealt with quickly, in some cases the developer does quick bursts, but some have just stopped working on the game. Its always worth recording a bug but don't have unreasonable expectations.

I hate to suggest it, but "Monetize BGA?"
Premium subscription $$ boost?
Advertisements in the side banners for us free loaders?
Tournament entry fees?
Stipend $$ for developers that create/maintain their games?
Capitalism for the win.

Quickly looking through your last game played:
Alhambra -> Might still have a somewhat active developer (last action in March 2022)
Chakra -> No active dev (last action in March
2021)
Codex Naturalis -> No active dev (last action in Juillet
2021)
But yes, most games don't have any active dev anymore, so bug reports are useless. To know if a game has an active dev, the easiest is to look at the last few fixed bug, and look at the date of the message from the dev.
(For example, in Codex Naturalis, even if the last "fixed" bug report is dated from 43 days ago, that's the date from the last message from a player on that report, the last message from the dev is from Juillet 2021, and they haven't touched at any bug report on this game since then)
However, on games that have an active dev (like Race for the Galaxy), posting a bug report is very useful to them.
