Blatant time manipulation not punishable?

Within the first few turns of a game of Catan, a player at my table got mad about the game and vowed to run the timer to depletion every turn just to ruin the game for everyone. They stated this openly in the chat and affirmed it with sarcastic glee throughout the game. The turn timers in Catan are quite long (3+ minutes) so we were in for quite a grueling evening.

I reported the player, but no action was taken because he "didn't break any rules". I was told to just give them a thumbs down on my personal page. Seriously? What the hell is the point of having moderators if they aren't going to punish abusive behavior like this? This is a common technique used by hotheads in every game, and the way you discourage it is by punishment. Blocking the player from playing with me isn't going to stop anyone else from doing it. Every other gaming site I use punishes people for "stalling".

Obviously turn timers are there for a reason and it's not always obvious if someone is stalling or just taking a long time to think, but most of the time it is entirely obvious if not outright admitted to in the chat. Seriously disappointed at this idiotic policy on a site that I am paying a monthly fee for.

For almost all unpleasant cases here, the 2 options here are red thumb or nothing at all. The best you can get here in the forum is a lock + moderation + lesson that you should use the report system instead (which obviously doesnt help).

When they just move slowly but within their time, there's nothing you can do. When they announce in chat to move slow on purpose just to annoy you, then I would go with reporting for behaving inappropriately in chat.

Did you actually report them or did you only click to the screen where it says you can't report slow play?

This is exactly what I did. I reported the chat where they straight up said they were going to run the timer because they were mad at the game. Seems to me that's the exact kind of behavior that ruins the game, and what the hell is the point of moderation but to prevent people from ruining the game?

The mod found this player "not guilty" and wrote "This player did something unpleasant, but not against the term of services. You may give them a Red Thumb for this. This will prohibit them from joining the same tables as you and from chatting with you privately."

Like yeah that's idiotic. Why even have moderators?
