It’s a waist of time having to wait for answers from people who don’t even have the resource asked for, especially in turn-based play

Then you would know their hand it would be a breach, you're not supposed to know what they haven't in their hand

You don't have to wait for that long. I f a player does not answer within 10 seconds, assume that the answer was no and continue playing.

He is speaking of turn based games, so 10 second doesn't work in this case
But I wouldn't recommend turn based for this game, even in real time it takes a lot of time!

Who would ever play this game turn-based?!

One solution is to ask for a resource and offer nothing in return. That gives others the chance to counter offer based on what they have.

Problem is nobody use the trade settings (because you possible need to change every turn).

I do, and that's definitely a very bad idea

Because playing it real time can take longer than an hour. I rarely have time to do that. Turn-based is usually the only option for me.
