It couldn't have come at a better time, as I beat my opponent by just a single point!

Filling the board is not extremely rare, but this week is the first time where I won one 1x1 patch but there was no space to place it.

Well I would not call it 'not extremely rare'.

I think in my 5k games I've managed to do it 3 times.

I think it depends also on playing style. I've done 3/4 times in about 600 games, but I tend to use more "real estate" than "cash".
Also a couple of times I did some objectively inferior moves (like the 10-3 or 10-4 at the end) just to "fill it up".

I almost did 2 full boards in a row! There was just one game in between haha
