@Hoosudaddy and I are playing some games of Arctic Scavengers and not understanding why some skirmishes end up being a tie. We have looked at the rules but we still don't understand. Can someone here explain these two cases to us? (there are quite a few more)

In a 2 player game, the difference in value has to be 2 or more, otherwise it's a tie. In both of the examples it was only 1.

Note that this is different from multiplayer games, where it's only a tie when the actual value is the same. And even then there's a tiebreaker: amount of people on the cards involved.
