multiplayer games without luck involved

Post by SebiCools »

Hello!

Do you know multiplayer game without luck involved?
I mean, without drafts, dices or any random stuff that can have positive impact on some players and negative on others.

In twos players games there are some abstracts game like chess, checkers, go...

but in multiplayers?

There may be others, but off the top of my head: Terra Mystica and Gaia Project. (They have randomness in setup to keep the game different each time, but no chance at all while the game is in progress.) Also I would argue Puerto Rico really belongs here (there is some randomness in the draw of plantation tiles but it doesn't have that huge an impact on the game - although I'm no PR expert so maybe experts may disagree).

Abstract games tend to have no randomness, but this doesn't mean players have equal opportunities. This refers especially to the advantage (or sometimes disadvantage) of the first player. Complex games tend to have some randomness (e. g. asymmetric players or different setups for a higher replayability), but are highly balanced for equal opportunities. Allthough you are talking about "no randomness" it might be you are looking for "equal opportunities". This in mind, here are some suggestions with low randomness:

I found ONE abstract game for 2-6 players :-) https://boardgamearena.com/gamepanel?game=one

Then there are some deductive games like Panic Lab, Reflection, 13 clues or (cooperative) Yokai.

As you are a fan of Terraforming Mars you might also look at complex games as Clans of Caledonia, In the Year of the Dragon, Terra Mystica, Tapestry and Tzolkin.

I hope you'll find what you are looking for ;)

Russian Railroads and Ultimate Railroads.
(without using the mini expansions, that is)

Carnegie doesn't have luck factor either.

Crusaders: Thy Will Be Done is also deterministic.

The action cards are random though.

There have already been several suggestions to filter games on BGA according to degree of luck (and other categories).

Navegador - it's an older game with no luck involved, although the theme is a bit dry for my taste. Digital version is available on *

*Moderator edit: it is against the rules on BGA to name other gaming websites specifically.
