Turning off friend online/offline notices?

Is there any way to turn off the XXXX is online , XXXX is offline messages that fill up the message and game history sections? Some of my friends seems to have dodgy internet and the game history gets scrolled off the screen.

Yes this is really annoying, especially when you have to refresh the page to see the gamelog.
I also have a dodgy connection, and i probably spam other friend feed unintentionaly ...

GULP! This bug has been around and reported for >2 years! "awaiting: This suggestion has not been analyzed by the developers yet" with 334 votes.
My guess is the title turns BGA developers off from looking at it. Maybe it is code they would have a hard time changing?
