ELO appears broken for Tichu?

Post by Syrilian »

I was looking at the results of my ELO after a game of Tichu and I noticed I lost points because the game considered me tying with my partner as a negative result. Obviously, being that we are on the same team, that is broken.

Yes, it's broken for Tichu and some other team games. It's one of the top-voted bugs on BGA. You can add another upvote here: https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=11297
I hope at some point it will be fixed.

It won't have done that, it will have considered it a draw. That means there must have been a huge discrepancy between you and your partner and between you and your opponents. Restrict the Elo so you are playing with people in the same category or stronger than you.

That's an approach that makes the buggy system not hurt your ELO too much. However - ELO-system could work if it was implemented in a way that does not calculate a draw between partners.
