I think it is not extremely uncommon for that to happen in a 3 player game. In this game you always score between x and y points and it is not a high scoring game per se + it is a very fast paced game. So loads of games will be played in short term resulting in a much higher probability of something like this to happen. It would be much more unlikely in a very long game as less games can be played.
