I'm trying to set up a chess tournament but the following message comes up.

This game cannot have tournaments

Can we no longer set up chess tournaments?

You can no longer use this site's tournament system for that, due to the reasons
described at ​ https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewto ... =16#p95250 .

You could still manually arrange who plays who, and there are probably
chess-specific sites which would let you use a site-based tournament system.
