Joker rules apply! What does this mean?

Sometimes when I am playing Yahtzee I notice in the turns column to the right it will say "Joker rules apply!". I'm curious as to what that actually means since there are no actual jokers on the dice.

You're allowed to use a yahtzee to score a small or large straight if you want that's all it means.
(Note that a yahtzee is already 3 of a kind, 4 of a kind and a full house anyway)

However ther3 is an excpeoton As if this is a second yahtzee and if you have scored your first yahtzee as a yahtzee you're only allowed to do the joker if the box in the top half is already filled. So for a second yahtzee if you roll 44444 you gave to score as 4s if that's free
