More specific question about bonus die

I understand HOW to use the bonus die. and this is probably a moot point on BGA since the computer is doing everything for us...

But I don't understand WHEN I get to use the bonus die. When I have dice that I have not used after claiming cards, there is a message:

"Remaining die will be sent to...
Bonus die"
or
"Reserve" (down next to cards I have claimed)

WHAT ARE THE CRITERIA FOR DETERMINING WHICH PLACE IT GOES?

So far, it seems that it goes to RESERVE when
-- the other player currently has one or more dice with the bonus
-- I have just used the bonus die on the turn I am finishing

But sometimes it says it is going to RESERVE but it goes to bonus.

As I said, I know the computer is making the moves, [including making the final roll for whoever gets to do so] but I would just like to understand why it is happening.

You need more than 1 thread to talk about the same thing?

I figured if people had read the first post, they would not look at the clarifications

Nope, it goes to reserve if
  • the sum of the faces on your remaining dice are equal or below what is already claiming the white dice.
  • Or you had the white dice this turn (whether you actively used it or not)

That would be a bug that you should report with the table and round number.
(If you don't know the round number, you can do "replay from" by clicking on the logs if the game is ongoing or review the game step by step if it's over.)
