Are you able to guess what the other players know?

Post by VKV FR »

As a general question about strategy in "Break the code", I was wondering if it is possible and if it makes sense, as a player, to try to guess what the other player(s) know. And then act based on that guess, by asking a question that would be more valuable to them than to you.

Said differently, do you (or strong players) think about what the other player(s) know when choosing the question to ask?

Cheers,

You could, but you would only take this approach if the question cards currently available to you were absolutely pointless, at any other point in the game you want to gather valuable information to yourself for a faster code solving

I don't necessarily think about when I'm trying to pick a question. I do look at the questions and at my own code to see if there is a question that would give my opponent lots of information. For example if my code starts with 001, I definitely don't want my opponent to ask the sum of my leftmost tiles.

When I do think about it is when my opponent guesses my code before I do (or nearly guesses it). Then I take some time to figure out why he knows my code. If by his questions alone he can't have known my code, then I can probably figure out which tiles he eliminated because they are in his own code.
