Would like to have a red thumb with a time limit .... maybe I'm tired of playing with that player... for the next 24 hours only

Also, would like a way to erase all red thumbs I have given to others to make a "clean slate"
(on * online web site there is a button to list your enemies and go through that list to erase their version of red thumb for each user)

You mean like an orange thumb? Use it for "Stop me having to play this person again today. Arena has paired us four times in a row and I'm bored now..."?

Any update on this suggestion? Is there an EASY way I can go through see who I have given a red thumb to and revise?

Raise it as a suggestion in bug reports and people can vote on it

What u can do now is add a bookmark / remember his name after giving a red thumb.
And when u want to cancel it, go to their player page.
oh and red thumb dont work on arena and tournaments.

They don't work for tournaments. BGA announced that it would stop affecting Arena as well in the ELO System Update megathread (even acknowledging that it was being "abused"), but they never implemented that change.
