Dear BGA Programmers. Will you please make it possible to concede a 3-player game? Should be easy programming, the other 2 people automatically get win points. Games like Catan sometimes it's very clear early on you have no hope and it's a long wait for the other two people to finish out the game while you are literally just there to click roll dice the whole time (or worse, become kingmaker)...
Concede option for 3 player games
Re: Concede option for 3 player games
And who would be the winner in that case ? Tie wouldnt be fait since the highest ELO would lose some ELO because of that.noyb wrote: ↑12 November 2022, 13:34 Dear BGA Programmers. Apply the exact same logic like someone dropped out of the game, all others are equal winners, but no karma penalty cuz it's just saving everyone time.

Re: Concede option for 3 player games
Splitting the winning points sounds like a fair compromise. I think its safe to say we've all found ourselves in this situation. You want to walk away, but you don't want the karma hit. And if its REAL TIME you can't concede your loss and start a new game, and if its TURN-BASED you have to suffer through days (or weeks) of a game you've no interest in -- and likely you're not going to actually PLAY, but just "take your turn" which diminishes the game for everyone involved.
This seems like it should at LEAST be an option such as "ALLOW PLAYERS TO CONCEDE" so if you start a game and don't like it, its out. If you like it, its in. Like was originally written, seems pretty simple to implement since its already done in two-player games and disconnects.

Re: Concede option for 3 player games
Again, repeating what Tissac said:
Ties aren't fair. How should ELO be determined?
The highest ELO person will actually lose points if they tie, since they were expected to win. In a 2-player game, they still get their full ELO from the conceding player. There is no easy fair way to determine how much ELO should be shifted in a multi player game.

Re: Concede option for 3 player games
There have been so many games that last over an hour, and I had to wait until the end while the outcome was predetermined.
Please treat this same way as if some person quits the game, but without the reputation loss.
Make adjustments so that high players' ELO stays the same.
Or give everyone proportionate ELO changes to the game stage.
This is a huge issue. I have been quitting games a lot and suffering consequences because if a game lasts two hours - it's a time kill.
Please please reconsider!!!!

Re: Concede option for 3 player games
Basically treat everyone else as a winner.
How is that an ELO loss for best players?
How is that an ELO loss for best players?
Re: Concede option for 3 player games
Because in multi-player games (i.e. more than 2 players) ELO is computed against each opponent. So all players win against the player who conceded, but then it's a tie against every other winner. Which will result in ELO loss for the player with the highest ELO, because if you ELO is higher you're supposed to win against lower ELO, and tie is not a win...
Re: Concede option for 3 player games
Thus this will not be accepted, unless the game rules support conceding in multiplayer games like Through the Ages.
