rematch

I have played a few dozen matches already. I have offered rematches frequently (effectively, most times I lose a game), but I have never seem to be asked for a rematch. If someone asks for a rematch (while I initially don't) am I notified somehow?

Yes. You should get a notification.

And yet, I never have.
After winning a match I wait a while to see if a rematch offer is sent. Will I see the notification right after a game? Do I have to get back to the main page? Does it make a difference?

You won't see a lot of this. Most players are happy to play a rematch but for some players it feels awkward and uncomfortable and pushy (remember a lot of people come from cultures in which saying no to a request is frowned upon). Most people recognise this and so do not ask for rematches because they know it will make some opponents uncomfortable (and if you are playing with someone you know you don't need the automated system). You are not doing anything wrong but that is why you aren't seeing the system used much.

I've gotten one rematch offer which I obliged. We then proceed to play four matches in a row. Not in a same day. It was ok because at least you know that the person isn't gonna quit or play super slow.

Personally it didn't even occur to me before that, granted I'm pretty new to the site. Haven't still asked rematch myself. Maybe because when I'm playing with strangers it doesn't matter much if they change to every game.

In various games that I've played I've gotten same person couple of times after few days. Sometimes I play bunch of different games and same person is in couple of them. Rarely anyone acknowledges that hey it's you again or something like that. Even the chat is pretty silent apart from occasional gg after the game. I've gathered that people pretty much want to be left alone. Apart from one spaniard who called me boring and quit the game. Love it when folks loose their cool in boardgaming in Internet.
