Board Game Arena

We had the clue Palm come up, and i was struggling as my clue Frond was a match, and i was thinking if I had typed Lamp, would it have been allowed ? And are Anagrams actually that useful to the guesser, or are they distracting ?

I've only played a few games but I don't think I would spot this unless there was a symbol to indicate the use of an anagram. The rules don't exclude it but it doesn't seem like what the game is trying to encourage which is matching words rather than rearranging letters.
