Memoir '44 commemorates the efforts and sacrifices of the men & women throughout World War II. You will fight in numerous battles across the globe as you take control of your own army. From Normandy to the Pacific, you will relive famous encounters throughout the war.
Memoir'44 is one of the most well-known games of its kind since its release in 2004, especially thanks to its game mechanics and overall rules system. Richard Borg, the game designer, explains: "By design, the game is not overly complex. The game mechanics, although simple, still require strategic card play, timely dice rolling and an aggressive yet flexible battle plan to achieve victory."
Designed for 2 players, with an average game length of between 30 and 60 minutes, it encourages match play where players can command first one side and then the other, alternatively.
Why is BGA the best option for the game?
Mostly because the old version of Memoir'44 as an app was pretty successful but has became difficult to maintain over the years. Or to upgrade. You know it is already hard to update a document when it is not yours, right? Imagine this case with tens of people.
Plus, over the years, the very large, strong, and active community behind the game has been asking for a lot of improvements, not only to the game scenarios, but to all of the different options this game system can offer.
That is why we had to make the Board Game Arena adaptation as accurate as the old one as possible, adding our special needs for the game to evolve and to be played peacefully on any device (but please prefer a large screen for readability).
Note also that the visuals have been updated to be perfectly in line with this new version. However, if you are feeling nostalgic, you can still play with the old units graphics.
Content, content and... more content!
We prepared a lot of content for you to play:
- Terrain expansion pack: scenarios and many new maps to play.
- Mediterranean pack: new scenarios, new units, new countries (Italy, Britain)
- Eastern front: new scenarios, new units, and new rules that includes the USSR and a new way to play (you have to plan the card you will play in the next round)
- Pacific: new scenarios, new factions (Japan and Marines), and new terrains (cave system for example)
You can play with plenty of different combinations of maps and armies.
Still not enough ?
Play the all-new "breakthrough" mode which will double the map size and the play time for a deeper experience.
Please note that to be fair to everyone takes their worldwide rank seriously and to keep a fair balance, you will have to play both sides to win points. ie: AXIS and ALLIES. (Because some scenarios gives advantages to certain camps for historical accuracy.)
Also, we wanted to bring the game in the latest version possible at the moment. That is why you will find all of the community-created scenarios by switching the settings under "Scenario Type" to "From the Front". In the upcoming days, there will be an automatic update of them from the official scenario editor, every 24h.
What if i play using the Asmodee/STEAM version of M44?
Asmodee is going to make an announcement about the future of the existing version. If you bought some M44 ingots, we have good news for you: you will have the possibility to convert them to access the BGA version if you prefer not to continue to spend them. Stay tuned, you will be contacted separately by Asmodee.
This is a first (significant) step, but of course we know that this game has plenty of expansions. We want to continue to work on the game but for that we need to make this adaptation a success. So tell your friends and M44 partners to come and give it a try, and if the M44 community is enthusiastic, we will continue to add content. Board Game Arena will be the place.

No doubt the M'44 community is huge, patient, and caring about every aspect of the game, and that we will give very special care to maintaining the game to keep it in its best shape.
