It's tied to 1 hour before UTC. There seems to have been some delay as well. I was trying to open the present around 23:55 UTC, and it just opened up the following day.

Same. A bit disappointing that it's already ruined for me despite still being December 1st.

Certainly looking forward to the game releases though.

Pretty disappointing that you have to scroll 4 pages down past the newsfeed and game advertisements on mobile to see the event. Also disappointing that users in different time zones miss out even though it is still the 1st of December. Discovered the event too late on the 1st to be able to have the chance to earn the achievement. Some improvements would be appreciated. Despite the disappointments, it is exciting to see more games being added.
