Problem with automatic translation new formating (encoding)

Post by viktorbir »

The latest news have had special (well, not really so special) characters encoded, so chars like «'»
appear as «'». This is just more work. But the real problem is that «&» appears as «&».

Guess what happens when the original string is

<a href="https://boardgamearena.com/tutorial?gam ... orial=1015" class="postlink">this link</a>

Well, you just have to translate the words «this link», ain't that easy?

NO!

You get this message:

<> markers must be kept unchanged in the translated string

And why? Because it does not say the standard HTML

?game=dicethemepark&tutorial=1015

but

?game=dicethemepark&amp;tutorial=1015

And you can become crazy till you find it.

PLEASE! Can you revert it back to the normal time when you didn't use HTML encoding for non ANSI characters?

I'm not aware of any recent change about this. Thanks for notifying the issue, indeed this should not happen (but unfortunately, not sure how long it will take to find the exact cause and fix it in the chained steps of the process)

I'm not sure if it's related, but today while translating the Solar Storm tutorial I found several strings that looked like this in the English original text:

*Click on &quot;Move&quot; at the top!*

I replaced the &quot; for a quote character in the translations.

It's exactly the same problem.

Turns out there had been a change. We'll need to investigate the translation chain further to make a better change in the future, but for now we have reverted the change and the situation will be back to usual for translators.
Sorry about this and thanks for notifying us of the issue.
