Option for 80 Victory Points in Space Base

Me and my wife are really enjoying playing Space Base on this website, but the only thing we don't like is how the game only goes to 40 victory points, and we feel that the game is just starting to get good at around 40 victory points, and it would be nice if you could increase the victory point requirement to 80 points...maybe if only in Training Mode....what do you guys think? Thanks!

I don't know the rules for Space Base.

Are 80 Victory Points part of the official rules?

No. It's 40. The OP wants to implement a house rule as an option. I declined to comment about that when I saw this post.

The reason most engine-building games "stop too soon" is that whoever is first to 40 points probably would also be first to 80 points. Playing to 80 points also eliminates other strategies, such as going for early points instead of building your engine.

you don't have enough time to build an engine only going to 40 points though.

You don't need to build a complete engine. You need to build and start running an engine that gets you to 40 before the competition. :)

Most engine builders that I have seen usually have 3 viable strategies:
A) A fast start that peters out
B) Steady mid-range growth
C) Slow start that ramps up the further it goes.

In math terms, it would be something like graphing
A) y= 6 - (5/x)
B) y = x
C) y = (x*x)/5

The good games have the endpoint when x is around 5.
