How does the "restart turn" / "confirm turn" works?

I'm new to Memoir 44, and just noticed that after finishing a turn, even one when that I rolled a lot of dice, I have the option to click "restart turn".

I didn't try it out, but I wanted to ask about what exactly does that button do - does it rewind everything that happened? I imagine that most likely not, as that would be basically a free cheat for everyone to get around bad dice rolls infinitely, but well, I got curious so I'm asking.

It restarts all the action made since the beginning of your turn or since the last random event that tool place during your turn.

Be particularly careful on maps with frozen rivers - because as soon as they're stepped on, that's it - a random event has occurred...
