Res arcana actually uses real life lore and all mages are either inspired from historical characters or characters from legends and myths. There was a topic about this in bgg forums somewhere. For example, the duellist guy is pretty much this person: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tycho_Brahe

Wait, how do you know that ? And how do you know that duelist was pretty much that person ? Just asking cuz I think duelist looks the coolest, its such a neat design

I’ve always found the lore behind Res Arcana more interesting than I expected, especially if the characters are actually drawing from real historical figures and mythology. The Tycho Brahe connection for the Duelist is a really cool detail, and now I’m curious how many of the other mages have similar inspirations.
