How to Detonate Missiles?

Where are all the other posts?

My missile is adjacent to and pointing at target.
During movement I click my Missile.
Button Options appear asking to 'Detonate' or 'Cancel'.
I select Detonate and am give a warning that no ship will be damaged. I of course cancel.
I click my Missile,
I click the adjacent target/hex.
The missile moves into the hex with the target ship.
a)If I click the missile again it will undo the turn.
b)So I start moving another missile.....

Rules say the Missile detonates immediately after 'hitting' target. Its not doing that. I hesitate to continue moving missiles and ships as I have the idea these missiles will not detonate On Target (they seem to be ready to harmlessly detonate one hex away, just not On Target).

When how do they detonate?

Missiles hits their target automatically if they are in same hex.
Detonate is to remove an unused missile only.
So just move missile to their target.

Thanks Lunalol. Thanks big time for adapting Talon 1000 to BGA, an actual Christmas present.

Another question. I have two Talon 1000 games going, have yet to see what happens if a ship tries to move past the given mapedge. Does the map adjust in some incremental/re-centering way or is this not allowed on the already very very large map?

J.Krohn has accepted that map will be infinite (so yes, it adapts, shrinks or enlarges automatically).
