Will the tournament last forever?

The tournament settings allow the 3 best players to continue and also allows for 3 players matches (so for matches where no-one gets eliminated) ... I don't know if the situation would have arisen would the matches have been restricted to 4 players only...

yeah.

still a bug either way.

We've also been given the exact same pairings.

BGA staff need to amend the settings to either:
* 4p-only games,
* only keeping 2 players per match.

I think as one person quit the tournament, it threw the numbers out so it can't stay in multiples of 4.

By the looks of it,
* Primoclark
* Fromir1
* z_or_a
have all lost 2 out of the last 2 games, and definitely ought to have been eliminated. I'd encourage those 3 players to resign the new games they're now in manually, and then manually all 3 quit the tournament as they would have if the tournament was eliminating people.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated. The tournament has been running for over 1 year. I don't want to be forced into abandoning a tournament and have to take large penalties.

You also know that I won't ever stop moaning about it. :shock:

The tournament has been created a long time ago, by then when bracket and stage tournaments were in alpha :)

There was no safeguard for the configuration set here, "3 players per table", and "keep the first 3 players".

I changed the setting to force 4 players minimum, this should be enough for the tournament to end, in about 3 steps.

It may look like it:

We'll watch the tournament to see if everything goes well.

But you do realize this is not exactly a good solution for this tournament system, right? Step 10 seems to be ok but step 11... 3 players get a free pass to the final while 4 others have to battle for the last spot? That can't be the best solution. It could be either 1 player getting eliminated at a time which means the tournament drags on for a while but so be it. OR in semi-final it should be allowed to have a 3p table and then make 2 tables where 2 players each qualify for the final

I can't say I fully understand all the permutations and combinations.
But as far as I can tell, 1 person should be eliminated in each game in each round.

With the current 9 players:
3 games of 3 players, 3 (last place) players get eliminated. Now we're down to 6.

Next round:
I guess 2 more tables of 3. 2 (last place) players get eliminated. Now we're down to 4.

Bingo, final round of 4 players.
