I had previously only known Russian Railroad and to check out the new variants I started a solo game (player number is given from 1-4). However it seems the solo rules are not implemented from the rule book I gather some actions should be unavailable (as in the two player version additionally also the gold action and player order actions). Also a simulated opponent "Emil" is supposed to block random actions during the placement phase. Playing solo with everything open is pretty wild my first try on the Asian map ended with 700+ points

The solo mode implemented in BGA is not the official solo mode.
It would be very cool to have Emile.

I was also hoping there'd be the official solo variant. I wonder if there are any plans to implement it..

I was surprised by this solo version. Everything is open, no limitations and no Emilie.
I don't think I'll play this version again.

The solo ruleset has not been implemented despite the number of players being listed as 1-4.

Russian Railroads is your only solo option for the foreseeable future.

I second this. March 2024 and the official solo mode still has not been implemented. This reflects very poorly on the game. I started playing it thinking that this was the official solo rules and I had to make some research to realize that wasn't the case. Had I not done that I might have judged the game on the wrong premises.
