Good news, BGA is growing and to improve your experience on our platform, we are hiring on the technical side :!:

Board Game Arena is composed of 2 main parts: the games, and all the rest, what we call the Metasite: the lobby, the homepage, reputation/ranking systems, tournaments, player pages, game pages, and so on...
We are now looking for an additional Metasite developer.

By doing so, we want to be able to bring additional features on the BGA Metasite, like we did for instance on the game page and the new lobby.
... obviously, we'll be glad to have this new member of the team from the existing BGA studio developer community.

You'll find below the job description. You can apply by email at career@boardgamearena.com (please use the email itself as cover letter and to attach a curriculum vitae). We'll make a short list of most valuable candidates, leading to further interviews in order for you to ultimately join the BGA team!
Job title: Metasite developer

Location: Anywhere on the Earth.
Everyone at BGA is working from their home or from co-working spaces. For this job, it's required that you have a fast and reliable internet connection. We plan to meet physically all together once a year.

Salary: Please specify your net salary expectations (yearly / in EUR) in your application email.

Job description:
  • Software maintenance and evolution of the Board Game Arena "Metasite" (ie: everything except the games and the game framework). Within the technical team, you will work in close collaboration with other team members, our UX designer and artistic director to improve the BGA service and create new features.
  • Contribution to the Metasite in the BGA production environment, with other team members
Expected hard skills:
  • Full stack developer with at least 4-5 years experience in software development
  • PHP, Javascript, MySQL, CSS, HTML5; knowledge of other programming languages appreciated but not required
  • Linux, shell scripting and Linux system administration: the basics are absolutely needed, and if you know more it will be a great advantage for the position
  • Ability to adapt to imperfect code: keep in mind that BGA is a +10 years old project and was a spare time project at the beginning
(you must consider working on imperfect - and sometimes undocumented - code to make it better )
  • Fluent in English (both speaking and writing)
Speaking French and having already adapted a game on BGA studio are appreciated but definitely not required.

Required soft skills:
  • Autonomous, able to set goals and achieve them
  • Good communication skills
  • Board games addict for sure
Additional information:
  • The full-time position is expected to be filled in Q2-2023
  • The deadline for your applications is March 12th 2023.
