Board Game Arena

Having statistics about the most played games on BGA would be nice.

It would be easier to know which games have many players and open tables and which games have none.

Ack! Not any more! That page was not great, btw, for seeing the statistics -- would only show currently in-progress games and there were no filters. But, it was something.
Since the data has been removed, I'd like to recommend that BGA take this opportunity to create a real and better, stand-alone statistics page. Players would get a huge value from being able to see what games are most and least played. Knowing statistics about a game's player-base is really useful in deciding what games to try next. Also, it would be fascinating to see how games trend over time. Really, I'm surprised that there isn't anything like this here already.
And, I'll guess that some people will object that this will be unfair to the less popular games. I don't believe that is really true. I play several games with very small player pools. A good game will always rise up over time. There's no good reason to not give this information to the users.
