Who on gods Earth had the bright idea to make a 4 player game into a 3 player game? It was the worst decision in all of gaming in my opinion. All it does is allow people to Kingmake and Cheat together. The person who came up with the idea to switch the number of players should have their ability to make decisions on this site removed.

Today has been the worst day I have had on this site. At this point I want a refund and regret ever supporting to begin with.

Just play simple game if you don't like 3 player. I feel the same way about 7 wonders Architect being a 3 person game in arena but apparently people like it. I prefer 3 player Catan because it goes faster, trades take less time, and there's more space for growth.

You can play four-player Catan games on BGA, either tournaments (https://boardgamearena.com/tournamentlist) or simple games (via the lobby).

So when a "Guru" makes a horrible mistake and changes a 4 player game into a 3 player game are they removed from being a "Guru" because they ruined an entire season?

Not just this season - every season. I’ve tried to argue for 4p Arena since the game went live a year ago. We had it for about two weeks and it was great. I was looking forward to a full 4p season, until the “gurus” in their infinite wisdom decided otherwise, and it’s been 3p ever since.

I’ve argued the case on the forum linked to above and elsewhere, to deaf ears. I have no hope that it will change tomorrow. I agree that it’s a joke and does not reflect the skill involved in a proper 4p game, but the 3p fans are now in control of the guru dice and won’t let go.

My solution has been to set up and play “simple” style 4p games live, and to look out for 4p tournaments to play turn-based, but like you I’d much rather have a 4p Arena mode.

4p is the official tournament setting everywhere else. This being 3p is just wrong. Gurus should not be able to decide this.

3p games take less time so people who play 3p games can play more games, therefore there are more gurus who prefer 3p games. Self-fulfilling system.
