Thank you for posting, AgateBeo.
kespie wrote: 06 April 2023, 14:30 However... it feels like a very artificial achievement :D (although I love the puzzle). ... Maybe it is a good idea for the next challenge to also fix the Automa level? The game is really different with a different Automa level.
You make very good points and I agree with them all to some degree. However, is the strength of the challenge that it is inclusive for all players, new and experienced? Would setting the level as Ultoma, for example, put off many people? And I might not select the best level! In theory I could grade scores by automa level, but would a player get an entry at each level? That would be a lot of work.

But this is for you and all the other players. Thoughts welcome!

Just for information, the person who sets the challenge can't influence the Automa of the month set-up, which happens automatically; they can only choose which map to play on, and which faction. I'm hoping future maps and set-up will give an opportunity to play factions not tried previously, such as Taklons, Firaks, Gleens and Bal'Taks.

Heraklejski 225 vs Automa 117 https://boardgamearena.com/4/gaiaprojec ... =365002904 Navigation in the first half, continued with Terraforming and finished with AI in the last round.

Jowbo 247 - Automa 114, https://boardgamearena.com/4/gaiaprojec ... =365051705 Minmaxed the game to beat kespie :D. But as kespie said you need to test a couple of rounds to see what the automa does so you can take the important planets you want. Skipped science and economy alltogether to just go nav, terra and later qic

Great scores, Heraklejski and Jowbo. The starting mine at the bottom has been the less common placement but seems to have worked out well for you, Jowbo.

Kespie 243 vs 114 Automa - https://boardgamearena.com/9/gaiaprojec ... =366642553. RL + 6 mines opening. Nav, sci, terra, AI. 5+1 feds, so scored the vp/fed tile for 30 points :D. Can probably be polished to exceed 250. I wanted to combine the north-south opening with the science track approach.

Polished version:
Kespie 255 vs 114 Automa - https://boardgamearena.com/4/gaiaprojec ... =366972084. RL + 6 mines opening. Nav, sci, terra, AI. 5+1 feds, so scored the vp/fed tile for 30 points :D.

Although this score is the result of several attempts, it is a truly impressive achievement. The replay is a pleasure to see. I like the RL+6 mines opening and climb up science, and how it was worth taking the k/planet type tech tile for only 3k.

I hope players will continue to try the challenge - it can be very satisfying to post a first attempt in the 170s, for example, or to try a different strategy to your first one, or even have your first game as Ambas!

Hello everyone, this is my first post in this Forum. I am super happy with my score as it is my first sologame of gaia on bga.

etsharry 156 vs ultoma 143 https://boardgamearena.com/gamereview?table=367128106 iirc i went for nav 3 and then gaiaforming

Maxed both techs in the end, got also both advanced techs lategame, focused on getting alliances, sadly ai blocked my prefered first "dwelling" so i had to improvise and used my QICs to get all brown planets asap, also tried to achieve max points with gaia planets in the last turns.

Super fun that it is possible to play those automa games here, thanks to whoever made this possible. <3

Congratulations on your win against the Ultoma and thank you also for your kind words. You built your Planetary Institute very early, but it did give you more tokens for gaiaforming. An interesting approach!
