Innovation - German terminology guideline

Hi,

First post in this forum by the Zzzyyxas! :ugeek:

What sent me here, was the most recent addition of new Innovation expansions and the futility to not stumble across the very first attempts to translate the new cards's rules texts by others. Some of the results caused me some or even much confusion when I tried to puzzle together the meaning of their respective effects in games.

But let me still start by saying thank you to all of you who already committed their precious time to translate those cards and rules snippets. That's a challenge, especially with expansions that introduce new ways how a game works going along with new terminology. This way, the most part of translation has been done already. There's just a lot of cards now that need some more work of refining wording and streamline terminology. Here's a list of Innovation-specific game terms - first in English, then what it should always be referred to in German and then some terms I found in current translations that should be replaced accordingly (in brackets).:

(Some lines are introduced with a (?): I'm not 100% sure how those should be dealt with.)

board = Kartenbereich (Auslage, Board, Brett)
score pile = Einflussbereich - (Wertungsstapel, Punktestapel)
tuck = archivieren / archiviere (einstecken, verstauen, ablegen)
top card = aktive Karte - (oberste Karte, Top-Karte, beste Karte, höchste Karte)
splay = fächern / auffächern* (<= evtl. wäre es auch hier besser, sich für eine der Varianten zu entscheiden) - (ausbreiten, spreizen)
(splay left = fächere nach links)
(splay right = fächere nach rechts)
(splay up = fächere nach oben)
transfer = verschieben / verschiebe (übertragen, transferieren)
meld = ausspielen / spiele aus (verschmelzen, melden)
forecast = Vorhersage (<= so heißt jedenfalls die entsprechende Spielzone gegenwärtig, wenn man mit der zugehörigen Erweiterung spielt. Weniger klar ist mir die Verbform; bisher habe ich dafür genutzt: "lege die Karte in die Vorhersage") (Prognose, angedeutet, suggerieren, stelle vor)
(?)icon = Symbol - (Icon) (English game introduction text refers to icons (as castles and light bulbs and so on), but to symbols as the picture that is sitting at the fourth hexagon space on each card and has a picture of the concept the cards represents in it, so maybe I'm off here? To me, "Symbol" feels like the natural choice here, though.)
achieve / claim achievment - erringen / Errungenschaft beanspruchen - (Erlagen / erlangen, erzielen / Fordere Erfolg an)

(?) endorse action - (Bekräftigungs-Aktion (?))

I'm convinced that a maximum of terminology streamlining eliminates most sources of confusion with regards to play experience. I'll revise the whole content of german Innovation translation which might lead to many translations referring to me as translator eventually, even though my sole contribution would be the change of one or two words as suggested above. That's not intended!

Anyone working through the text quicker than I will is welcome to do so.

Hello and welcome.

As a heads-up, posts like these should be on the dedicated German subforum: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=419

As I have contributed a bit in the past, here are what I have used (I used to play it in real long time ago, and as far as I remember, those are the official terms).

-> vorhersagen?

Thank you both.

@KongKing123: If the Mods deem fit, they might want to move it there. I can't.

@Dorian Gray2: Thank you for confirming most of that terminology choice. (Except for "Top card" = "oberste Karte" - Are you 100% certain, that shouldn't be "aktive Karte"?)

I noticed a mistake on my behalf: "return a card" should probably always become "entsorge eine Karte", but sometimes "gib eine Karte zurück" was used instead.

There are also completely untranslated parts left. Those contain additional game-specific terminology:

endorse
flag
fountain

Unless anyone can provide official German terms, I might feel bold and go for the obvious Flagge, but those other two are less obvious. :?

Both would work. I have a slight preference for "oberste Karte" as it is closer to the original text, but I won't insist. :)

Not much of a difference, but yes, I agree.

Maybe it is some expansion that I never played, but without more context, it's hard to tell. I looked at the translation site and it is already translated. I think I'm out here.
