Board Game Arena

I read yesterday that the game format for Arena is decided by the game Gurus. How do I see how many of a game I have played and especially how many the Gurus have played?

For your own: https://boardgamearena.com/gamestats?player=83837799 and there you can filter by name.

For any other player, change the player id (or click on their name, then "xxx games played" and "yyy's games history"). I don't think the gurus are public, though...

What is the requirement for becoming a guru? Is it the same for all games? I know you have to play a lot but is there a specific # of games during a certain period? I get added and taken away from guru list at various times.

I have been "gurued" a few times. I find a new game I like and play it often and then I get a notice I am now a "Guru". I do not know the details on how it happens but I suspect it is based on a percent of the total games played in a month.

When I have moved on to the next game and play less, I get a notice I am no longer a Guru.

It's probably not a required number of games, but a high percentage compared to other players of this game.
So for very popular games, you will need to play more games to become a guru, as other players are likely to play more than you.
Also, a very long game will require fewer games to play, as the total number of games played will be lower.

Right, that's what promoted the question.

For some games, you might need to play just once, as there is basially no fanbase.

For others, maybe you have to play hundreds of times I think.

Either this is outdated or the tm page is showing an incorrect amount of gurus (over 160). For terra mystica there are way more than 100 gurus.

(Oh. You keep your status for a month). Odd to say 100 guru limit but have well over that. The more popular games may have several hundred.
