Pathfinder's Staff

Post by gamerdork »

In two recent games, we have found that we are unable to actually place the archaeologist onto an open site. Is anyone else having this same issue? We don't feel it's a bug and that we are doing it correctly, but it will not let us complete that last step.

Would be helpful if someone clarifies this. I have only played a few times and I am unsure if perhaps I misunderstand the cards ability. I too was unable to use this card. I clicked every available spot. The only spot it allowed me to move my archeologists to was a site the was already discovered. After failed attempts to do what I actually wanted and thought the card allowed for I just passed my turn.

It allows you to "relocate," so there are technically 3 requirements.

1) you have to have 1 tablet to pay to use the card.
2) relocate requires you already have an archaeologist AT a site.
3) relocate requires that the site you move to has to already have been discovered.

Does that help clarify?

Yes it does. Thanks. I thought I could move my archaeologist from an item spot to any site (#3).

In both cases when we encountered the problem, I am certain we were using it correctly. It would not let us complete step #3 as outlined in the above post. Will try to keep en eye out for it again but I only get to play perhaps 1-2x per month.

Sorry for necro-posting... I was looking for the answer regarding pathfinder staff.
In p.3 you said that destination site have to be discovered... but I didn't find such wording in rules.
Why archeologist can't be relocated to undiscovered site if you have enough compas?

No worries!

Pathfinder staff uses the word relocate.

On page 24 under keywords:
"relocate: Without paying a travel cost, pick up one of your archaeologists
that is already on a site and move it to an unoccupied space at a different
site that has already been discovered. The effect might specify additional
restrictions."

Yeah, it's not in the most obvious place, so don't blame you for missing it! :)
