A 4 player arena format has been proposed, not by me, for the next season, because 2 player games are apparently "boring" to some of us.
I had put the 2-player arena format up for vote, because I wanted a real time option for arena play. It was nearly impossible to get a 3 or 4 player RT table going. But I agree that a 3 or 4 player makes for a better game.
It looks like, based on the Arena statistics page, that the total number of arena games played is higher in the 2 player format, but the number of different players might be going down. (Full disclaimer: I do play turn based to have a chance to win an arena season, but I enjoy RT more)
What are your thoughts about next arena format?
The way I see it:
2 player
Pro: More real time games. More games total since games are quicker
Con: Less time zone mixing. No chance to come in 2nd and still get some points.
3 player
Pro: My favorite in terms of how the game plays
Con: Very few RT games
4 player
Pro: I let someone else speak to that
Con: No RT games, Turn based games will take forever
Maybe we can have a rotating system of number of player in every season 2 now, 3 next, maybe 4 after that and then back to 2 again
