Scenario filtering?

Can someone please explain how the advanced options scenario filtering works? I'm only familiar with the M44's base game system and too be honest is all that I really care to know/play at this point. So, under advanced options, I set all scenarios that require only the base game knowledge to "i'm ok playing" and everything else to "never play". However, I also included "random" assuming it would look at my "I'm ok playing" selections for determinng a match. I then joined another player's game that popped up that was set for "random". Unfortunately, it ended up being a scenario that I had set to "never play". I ulltimately had to quit the game since I wasn't familiar with the extra rules, costing me reputation points and wasting the other player's time. What can be done to prevent this from happening again? Maybe setting I've missed? Thanks!

I would assume that "random" means you accept (or not) any table that is set to "random", while with any specific scenario you accept any table that is set to that specific scenario. Once a table is set to "random", it chooses a random scenario, regardless of what your other preferences are.

Yeah, that seems to be the case. Thanks for the reply!

I'll check out the suggestions/ideas thread to see if someone has already suggested this functionality and post if not. Having the random option is great if you want to get a match started quickly without having to fiddle with selecting a specific scenario. However, what's the point of "random" if doesn't account for your "I'm ok playing" or "never play" selections. Maybe the feature would only need to look at your "never play" selections considering they're a firm NO? All of the other options are basically just varying degrees of YES.

Just an update to the post... The developers have rejected the idea/suggestion stating it's "just not possible with current framework." Oh well. Didn't hurt to ask.

So the next question to the developers should be "When are improvements to the framework planned?"

It seems that the development focus is adding more and more games at the cost of not improving the existing games (and framework).

More games that I'm not interested in and no improvements to the games I am interested in.

There seems to be a line "ID of scenario played" at the end of a game overview. But it's always populated with "0" at the moment....
