Multiplayer Tournament results after time runs out?

What happens when a player runs out of time? Does the match finish normally? In normal games, I think I've seen glitches happen when a player is forced out due to time.

Players can be booted by other players, however, I personally don't do this if a player is regularly playing their moves, as tournaments are fixed time limits (you don't get replenished time each time you take a move) and some people can be hurt by poor alignment of timezones with other players, or for games that take longer, especially with more players at the table. If a player has been absent for several days, then sure, I will sometimes boot (half the time, this table doesn't even register on my radar). Tournament games also have a max time, so the whole thing will just end if it reaches that point.
The other question is how rankings are awarded. In the case of a boot, all non-booted players are considered tied for first, with the booted player placed last. However in a multiplayer elimination tournament, the bootee gets eliminated, but also so do however many other players need to be AT RANDOM. Which generally * for everyone (I guess not for those who aren't randomly eliminated, but play enough tournaments and you probably will be). If you let the table time out, places are awarded based on time remaining, which isn't always totally fair, but better than random.

Thank you, nik! Does the system allow the other players to continue playing like it does outside of a tournament? Could I just run my own tournament “ manually” without using the tournaments system among friends? Does the game glitch out sometimes if a player has timed out or does it always allow the game to continue to the end to see who scores the highest?

No idea. I almost always leave games when players are booted as it doesn't make sense to me to keep playing with a non-player. I've never had any glitches with it.
