ELO

When a player reaches 100 ELO, they can't go below that. This is not the case for ELO in the 200s. Does 300 or 400+ ELO go all the way down to 100?

Yes, no matter how high of an ELO rating you get, you can topple all the way back to 100 if you keep losing.

I have a question on how elo point are calculated.
I've just finished a game.
I was 155 and another player was 159.
We both finished at third place but i lose twice more points than him ?
Why ?
Edit : how to post picture on this forum ? ...

As far as I understood, for the first games your Elo is considered to have sort of "low confidence", thus the swings are bigger. The other player had a bigger amount of games already and had a smaller swing.

This is correct. The different result is determined by the "k factor." For more details, go to
this link, then look under "How is my ELO ranking computed?"

When you are new to a game, there is a big bonus to your elo. I think it’s about 3X elo gain on your first 10 games, then 2X on games 11-20. Your losses on those games are also multiplied. The idea is to get a new player to their real experience level as soon as possible.
In reality this bonus is much too strong and many new players are among the top 10 players for a game even though they have only played 10-20 games. And when that happens, they usually cannot sustain that level and never reach that high again. But this bonus may explain why two players with comparable score gain or lose a different amount.

I use “Imgur”. You can drag pics from your desktop onto that site. Once your pic is there, in the top right corner of your pic, there will be 3 dots. Click that and choose “get share links”. The 3rd share link is the format that works on these forums.

@ Blacktango :
Your comment got me to check, so I now know that BGA's forum also allows code-blocks.
(I should've used those instead of paste.ee for my posts in the dice threads.)
