IP issues

A friend who has Premium invited me and my girlfriend to a game.
Turns out I can't accept the invitation because we are playing on same IP.
Never had this issue before.
What is going on?
EDIT: As an experiment - I set up a table of a nonpremium game and invited her. She was unable to accept the invitation.

Try again using friendly variant. I think it’s because they don’t want king making.

Having two accounts playing from the same IP at the same table is a feature only available to premium members, even for non premium games. Either you or your girlfriend would need to be premium.
For BGA’s reasoning, see

They should have been able to play when the OP's friend with premium set up the table. I've hosted non-premium players playing on the same IP address from the same household many times, including two weekends ago.

Did you (as the premium user) had the same or a different IP address than the non-premium users?
The premium feature is described as: „ Play with friends next to you, using multiple devices or 'Hotseat' mode.“. I am not sure, but for me it sounds like „all players using the same IP address as the premium user can play together“. But Eclectic Meeple and his girlfriend wanted to join from a different IP than the premium user. May that be the problem?

No, as Meeplelowda said above, as long as the host is premium, they can host players at a different IP to them but same as other players at the table. I also do this regularly, as I have a number of coupled friends on BGA.

Thanks for your clarification, I wasn’t sure whether Meeplelowda Had a different IP address, as he did not explicitly said so.
So, if „playing from same place (IP address)“ is a premium feature, is there any option/setting for premium users to not allow same IP addresses? Or are we forced to accept players from same place?

You're forced to accept that they can join the table, but there should be a notice for the players in the start screen, so you can decline to start the game. There's no start screen in turn-based mode, but then the IP could also change during the game.

To clarify, I (premium) played from IP #1, my girlfriend (non-premium) from IP #2, and the other couple (non-premium) both from IP #3. You get the warning at the beginning of the game about them being on the same IP, but they were able to join the game. I've even had a third couple both on the same IP #4 for a fun game of For Sale once. So, 6 players but only 4 locations.

Thanks for your clarification. I understand, that if a premium user hosts the game table, the IP address does not matter for any player. But then, I do not understand, why Eclectic Meeple (see initial question in this thread) had problems.
