Board Game Arena

There are a few cards that give Fear cards when buying artifacts. Hunting Arrows and Serpent's Gold for example. I bought one of these because I needed that Fear card to overcome a guardian. But the Fear card immediately went to the "played" area instead of into my hand. That doesn't seem correct. I bought that fear card to use. What is the correct behavior?

From the rulebook:
« This effect means you gain a Fear card! Place it face up in your play area, ignoring its travel value »

Thanks for pointing that out. After searching the rest of the document it says something similar on page 24.
That is the one rules flaw (in my opinion) in an otherwise perfect game (also my opinion.)
