Board Game Arena

I am going to play my first game but have some questions before I start. I don't want to have to abandon a game or look up rules while playing.

1. Will there be tooltips that display what all the knowledge cards do? The icons right now are a bit confusing.

2. Will I have trouble finding players as a non-premium member if I choose a beginner board? I will probably use the 1st edition rules to start.
2a. If I don't use a beginner board, are there any tips on the placement of my initial castle/estate? I don't want to greatly disadvantage myself.

1. Yes, below the player boards, for yellow tiles and beige tiles.

2. I think you’ll be okay to find a game. 1e is superior (I prefer the graphics and yellow 6 in 2019 completely changes the game).
2a. I usually like to place so I can fill up several small regions in phase A and B. Or, place ships to maintain 1st player.

Good luck and have fun, Castles is one of the most popular games here for a reason.

1. You are able to hover over every tile in the game and it will give a brief description of what it does (including all the unique knowledge tiles).

2. It's a fairly popular game, unsure about the beginner board though. I don't think much changes between the boards, for a first game you will probably equally struggle on any board as you get used to the gameplay/rules. You could always look to start a turn-based game. That will give you plenty of time to assess your options (there are a lot) and not have to worry about abandoning the game.

2a. If possible a central castle location is usually the way to go. Something that's also close to Mines (grey) and Ships (blue) would be ideal as these are good tiles to place early. But on most boards your initial placement won't be hugely game changing, probably a minor advantage/disadvantage either way.
