Could be a bug, but you should put the link to the game here and tell us the move number, that way we can check. Most of the time people post possible bugs in here, they just missed something or didn't understand something, but occasionally something is actually a big. Can't tell for sure, though, without seeing the game itself.

I could view the log, but when I tried to get the replay to go to that move and replay from there (so I could watch what happened), it got hung up & wouldn't go there.

In the replay, you get your association card (with the multiplier) up to the 4th slot, and then your opponent triggers the break (which removes all tokens on cards, including multipliers), and then you use association immediately after the break for a 4 power action, but there is no longer a multiplier.

Did you maybe not realize you lose them at breaks? Or just forgot the break happened?
