Hi. It's not a bug: the resources and 'charge 6' for the top of the economic track are a one-time benefit, not income you get every round like the lower levels. So advancing to level 5 is usually done in round 6. I hope you don't mind me making some suggestions. Building an Academy is usually the strongest opening as HH, as it gets you two tech tiles that contribute to your economy and gives you extra knowledge income - you can watch replays of kespie's, pepeleas' or djchadb's games, for example, to see how that's done and can lead to high scores. Also, keep an eye on your income, because at one point you had so much credit income you lost some because of the resource cap (30 credits, 15 ore, 15 knowledge). Lastly, it's best not to pay more than one ore for each terraforming step, even if there are round bonuses. Good luck!
Hi montybojangles, thank you very much for taking the time to explain what I did not understand and to share a few tips.
I try not to specialise too much in my gaming routines as I find that adopting well-proved strategies takes away some of the gaming pleasure; this is also why I try to play very often different games, rather than digging too much into one.
This said, I appreciate general strategy advice: advancing to level 5 at the end makes all the sense and I was indeed curious to see whether knowledge income was something that did pay off with this faction. I will try to be mindful about the expense for terraforming and - definitely - about the caps you mentioned (and of which I was newbily unaware).
All the best! :)

John Leo 157 vs Automa 148.

This challenge was brutal! Took me 12 tries before I was able to beat the Automa. This win came off a turn 1 academy and pushes on econ, with some movement on Nav and Terraforming. I did score max points off the TP advanced tech. I left a lot of points on the table by not using very many satellites per federation. Does anyone have tips on improving their satellite play specifically?

Took another crack at it to good results!

John Leo 189 vs Automa 148

Maxed Econ/Terraforming and most of Nav. Prioritized round bonuses heavier than my previous plays and earned the TP tech tile for a nice boost in the final round.

I'm glad your persistence paid off, with such a big leap in your score. I see you won satellite endgame scoring so guess you planned better where your federations would be formed.

Four days of this month's challenge remain. We've not had many scores against the Ultoma, so you might like to see how the harder level compares.

zuko3d 215 - automa 148, https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=412206032 | RL + 3m opening, then tried maximum mines (done around r5) with early Eco 3. Aimed 3 feds and other resources went on QIC for more points, ignored goals.

Hi KassHino. Have you posted the right game? This one is for Geodens, not Hadsch Hallas, the automa of the month.

Nice game: a different approach to other replays I've watched, and 32 VPs from QIC actions is very strong.

John Leo 200 vs. Automa 145

My personal best score ever! I maxed Nav and Econ, with late pushes on Science and AI for last minute QIC bonuses. Very happy with this one.

That's a nice milestone to reach. I like that you came equal first in planet types (six) without advancing beyond Level 1 of terraforming. Very good round bonuses too!
