Well done pepealas... When I try the 4+1 feds approach I can get to 248:
https://boardgamearena.com/4/gaiaprojec ... =407100393

I did use an alternative start sequence here, in hope of better booster sequence later on, but it didn't pay off so I just wasted resources :).
Your booster sequence is probably indeed the best - a more efficient start and the Q+2c in R4 allows to squeeze in another 2q action in R5.
Other main difference is you taking the better adv tech: points per ts.

Update: incorporating those learnings, I now get to 255: https://boardgamearena.com/7/gaiaprojec ... =407121427. But I'd rather have my 250 listed as that was actually my own merit haha. And it is a different approach - this one is almost a clone of pepealas' game
Less points this month :( . Good luck trying this challenge, is fun and have a lot of strategies. Also play TM and some games more. ;)

Thanks for posting your score. Your 2 x RL opening is interesting.

Yes, in this set-up the qic actions are rarely covered by the automa and the 2qic action is valuable. As usual, the key to high scores is hitting one or two advanced techs.

Two weeks in and there has been a good response to the challenge. There's still plenty of time to get into the elite.

Fjuri 145 vs Automa (Normal Level) 142

First time playing solo. I made a few mistakes, but ended up barely ahead.

I've added your score to the list - well done on your win on your first time solo game. Would you like to add the link to your game? You can edit your original post.

Sorry I'm off topic but could someone post me a link to a good match vs automa of the week (Xenos). I barely won 127-123 using geodens and failed before with taklons and baltaks (and itars but I did a huge mistake)

my first game this month:

djchadb 198 vs automa 145 - https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=406367350 - Ac opening, fast Econ, then nav and terra. PI in R4. TS adv tile. AI later and all three QIC actions last round. ignored science and Gaia tracks completely.

Answer to myself : Ivits were the correct answer to this matchup, leading to an honorable 197 - 123. Focusing on econ really gives an edge, terraforming can come afterwards. https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=409350549

And a tidy one that gets you into the top 5.

I'm glad you had success with the Ivits. Of course, the choice of map can make a difference to what faction you might select. For example, in contrast to Itars for the gaia endgame scoring, on the Fixed map Nevlas can be good for planet types.

Hi everyone,
I am trying to get a hold of this challenge.
However, during one game, I suspect I hit a bug: could you please confirm me whether this is the case?
The game is https://boardgamearena.com/gamereview?table=409871541
The move is number 55
I received 6 power, but I should get 10 (6 in research and 4 from the buildings): am I wrong?
Many thanks, the Automa is quite a hard nut to crack! :)

Hi. It's not a bug: the resources and 'charge 6' for the top of the economic track are a one-time benefit, not income you get every round like the lower levels. So advancing to level 5 is usually done in round 6. I hope you don't mind me making some suggestions. Building an Academy is usually the strongest opening as HH, as it gets you two tech tiles that contribute to your economy and gives you extra knowledge income - you can watch replays of kespie's, pepeleas' or djchadb's games, for example, to see how that's done and can lead to high scores. Also, keep an eye on your income, because at one point you had so much credit income you lost some because of the resource cap (30 credits, 15 ore, 15 knowledge). Lastly, it's best not to pay more than one ore for each terraforming step, even if there are round bonuses. Good luck!
