Possible to leave a 4p Ark Nova early without scramming it?

I joined a game listed as 8 turns a day and it’s closer to 2. I’d like to drop out but not sure if that ruins the game for other players. I proposed abandoning it already and they rejected it. Any thoughts on options (other than another round of ‘this is supposed to be a pretty fast game can we please pick up the pace?’) Thanks

No. You have to either quit or complete the game.

And does quitting scram the game or can the three remaining players play on? I’ve read that if someone runs out of thinking time you can kick them out and keep playing

In some games you can potentially keep playing after a player is kicked, but there is a giant banner at the top that makes it extremely unpleasant, and game-breaking bugs can always occur in such a situation.
If you have a reason you cannot play the game with the timer as it is, politely explaining this in chat is your best bet. "I thought the game would take a week, and I need to clear my calendar. Can we end quickly or abandon?"

Thanks, I’ve already gone that route to no avail. I think it’s probably do or die time

Your opponents have only 11-12 hours on the clock. However, I do notice the table has playing hours configured:
Playing hours
4:00 → 16:00
Determining the timezone might be tricky (I don't actually know how BGA does this) but the intent is that only players who want to play in those playing hours would join.

Playing hours (and time in general sitewide) are shown in the user's time zone (as established by the system clock on their device I think). The exception is forum timestamps.

If the other players aren't taking 8 turns per day within the playing hours (more like 2 as you say), won't they run out of time pretty quickly? At which point you can boot them, which IMO is how it should be if they are the ones not adhering to time limits. You can quit but will be given a penalty for doing so.

Note that "X turns per day" means, in practice, X total turns, not X turns per player, because the time is usually running for a single player. So, in a 4-player game with 8 turns per day you should expect to play 2 turns per day.

Huh, interesting, I've never really thought of it that way, but of course you're right. Probably means I would do ok in a 4p Fast speed game (which I typically avoid as playing hours run mostly overnight for my timezone).
