Hi!

So I have reported an insulting player before and the player got moderated (for good reason, one might say).
I happen to witness some game chat but without me being in the game, and this person still... continues to insult me.
Because of reciprocal red thumbs, I cannot say anything in that game-chat.

Because of how BGA mechanics go, you cannot report someone who insults you, unless you are in the same game or (I assume) if you both engage in a conversation, somehow.
So reporting is impossible, for the reason I expressed above.

I remember back when Een was still administrator, some player wrote on the forum and said (s)he (the player) was witnessing a game and the gamers started to insult him when they saw (s)he was witnessing. It's the same situation now.
That player could not report, because of the EXACTLY SAME REASONS I cannot do it now; and Een said it was a situation that deserved a report and moderation, still (kind of an exception to how reporting goes in general).

Any constructive advice on how to deal with this now?
I advise some way to contact the BGA or something, for similar situations, in the future, or I don't know...
If some player starts saying "X is st*p*d" in some game X isn't in, I don't think this should be considered ok or accepted; should it?

Are you able to go to the player's profile and click the "Report this player" button in the top right corner of the page?

the player red thumbed you. You are not supposed to know which game he is playing and spectating it.

You were stalking instead, and should get moderated.

Oh please. I just opened 2 game-tables, without looking who was in them, and then let them open.
I joined 1 of them after that; and in the other one, I saw the upsetting thing, in chat.
And of course I got upset, anyone would.
The Red Thumb was mutual so I don't know what you're on, about.

The same goes for me: while I played some "Werewolves" games, some spectators kept popping in once in a while, spectators that I have RT on.
This doesn't mean that that player was stalking me or that I should have started insulting her/him then; it just means that when a player opens a game table, that player will appear as spectator, or something.
That is all.

Your stalking accusation is incongruent with reality and should not have been expressed like that, IMO.

You said in the original post that you red thumbed a guy, then you spectated his game and he insulted you, right?

If that played red thumbed you, you CANNOT see what happen in the game. You can still 'spectate' and let your name appear in the spectator list. Not sure why you are staying in that table? Especially if one of the player you decide to red thumb him? And he red thumbed you as well. And you still stalk him.

The werewolves part, it is a reportable offense. You can report him and make him guilty. Just state in the report someone does harassment.

No. If I see a player I have a RT on, randomly popping in, I will not automatically think of it as harassment!
Players always click on stuff, and some of the stuff might be some game-tables.
It is also important the game we speak about: in WWs (a 12-players game) that would be ok; in a 2-players game, I would start asking myself why.
Also, you can click on a friend's link of a game, and take you to that game in which there is also a player who you have RTs with, and until game starts, chat will still flow.
I am not sure what harassment you are talking about, really.
I think it is extremely farfetched.

So yes, there was a RECIPROCAL Red Thumb; I randomly opened 2 game-tables (while they were forming, you know...), from the old "PLAY NOW" Lobby, one after the other, WITHOUT initially looking at who's in, and then I left them open, like I always do with all tables I open.
So I stayed in the tables without knowing who's in, then in a few seconds, I saw 2 game-chats, out of which, in one one of them, from 10 words: 5 or 6 were some bad words addressed to me.
I am not sure if I was seen as a spectator there, but that's not the point.
If your problem is that RTed spectators can see (parts of) game-chats, talk to the BGA or to the ones who handle the chats, not to me!

Not my fault that I randomly see some avoidable insult and get offended by it, please.
Look at it from a different perspective: DON'T INSULT PEOPLE, not even if you are in reciprocal RTs with them. Isn't that easy?

I find it interesting that you play your last game 3 months ago, but felt the need to come here and say I should get moderated for unintentionally (Yes: unintentionally, by accident, in a non-stalking way!) spectating some insult towards me and had the nerve to get offended and take action against it.

I'm curious, if 2 friends are playing a game & insulting each other for fun (talking smack or trash talking) just like they might in person... & neither are reporting each other because they aren't actually offending each other... But a spectator comes in & reports or comments on their conversation... What happens then?
I'm not saying that happened but while reading these threads I thought of this as a possibility because my friends and I often trash talk each other in game for fun.

Hi. I don't think a spectator could report any of you in the conventional manner (selecting lines), unless participating in the chat.

If (s)he wants to report any of you without writing in the chat, (s)he won't be able to see your chat-lines when trying to report you by choosing the game table number (will get some "you haven't taken place in the game" message or something) - this was exactly my issue.
If (s)he drops a word, then I think (s)he'll be able to; not sure, though.
Anyhow, the player could report you simply by writing the link of the game and giving details to the mods, without needing to select lines - this is how I solved my issue.
It's a weird situation, in your case.

I think you should perhaps be careful to only joke when/if someone is not watching.
Or, if you are reported and moderated in the case you described, I think you should contact BGA (bottom of site page), contest the moderation and explain.
And your friend could also try to help you, in case you get moderated (somehow, not sure how, because I didn't see a clear option to contact BGA directly).
I am not sure if any moderator would actually moderate you, since (s)he'll see a spectator reported you and that the "insults" (jokes) were only between you 2.
But stranger things have happened, regarding moderations... So you never know.

I think your moderation would most likely dissolve, in this particular case (which is an interesting, but not very plausible one).
