Looking for an adventure style game with map exploration and quests

Hello Everybody,
I was curious to see if anybody knew of any adventure style games with map exploration and quests. One game I used to enjoy playing as a kid was a game called Mystic Wood, by Avalon Hill. The game had characters for you to choose from, and you had to complete their quests while fighting monsters and exploring map tiles. It is a very fun game, even to this day. Does anybody know of any modern games similar to this? I've heard of Mage Knight, but that is more of a Euro puzzle than an adventure game. Somebody also recommended to me Magic Realm, but that game takes months to learn. Runebound is similar, but lacks the exploration element. Same with Talisman. I really look forward to hearing from you.
